Dr Vanderley Da Silva
Dr Vanderley Da Silva recently joined the team at the Brighton Implant Clinic in Worthing, bringing with him more than a decade of expertise in root canal treatments. The clinic also purchased a special high-powered dental microscope to assist Dr Da Silva in performing root canal treatments with the greatest precision and accuracy.
Root canal treatments (endodontics) can be quite complex, which is why they are often recommended to an endodontist or a dentist with a special interest in endodontics. Dr Da Silva has extensive experience in root canal treatment. Having him as part of the team, along with a state-of-the-art dental microscope means The Brighton Implant Clinic can handle even the most complex root canal treatments.
Root canal treatments are needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (the pulp) is infected through tooth decay or injury. The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from the root canal. The root is then cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection. The tiny root canal branches cannot be seen by the naked eye or even by magnifying glasses, which is why the new dental microscope is so essential to accurate treatment.
“With this microscope I am able to see canals that would have been difficult or even impossible to see without it. This means I don’t miss any areas of infection that could cause problems later. I can also be more precise in removing the nerve and pulp, meaning a less invasive procedure for the patient and the ability to preserve more of the tooth,” said Dr Da Silva.
Dr Da Silva became a dentist in 2001, graduating from Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil. He completed his postgraduate programme in endodontics at University of Sao Paulo (USP), Bauru, also in Brazil and is currently undergoing a postgraduate course with world-renowned endodontic expert Professor Gilberto Debelian. Dr Da Silva speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese.
“Dr Da Silva is up-to-date with the newest research and innovations in the field of endodontics. We are very excited he has decided to join our team in Brighton,” said Dr Bruno Silva, founder and principal dentist of The Brighton Implant Clinic.
